Charmaine

I believe that teaching is a lifelong learning. As the saying goes, “When we stop learning, we stop growing.”

I love my role of being a facilitator in children’s learning which also provides me with the opportunity to learn a lot more about the world and how they see it.

My name is Charmaine, I was born and raised in the Philippines. My teaching journey began when I came to Japan in 2006. Since then, I’ve worked at a range of international schools in and around Tokyo. My experience and eagerness to learn has enabled me to work with a wide range of children of different ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Not only do I love children, I love working with them! They are the reason why I teach and they give me a million more reasons to love my job. I enjoy exploring and watching children learn. I love my role of being a facilitator in children’s learning which also provides me with the opportunity to learn a lot more about the world and how they see it. Children’s learning journey’s help me see things from a whole new perspective. It never ceases to amaze me how sometimes, if we think like a child we gain a better understanding and appreciate the things around us that we often overlook.

I love Summerhill for everything it stands for – to me, international mindedness is being able to respect and accept diversity, inclusion and equality which is exactly what I love the most about Summerhill, as well as our teams and families!
